Wilson was born in Blue River, WI and moved to Glenwood when he was ten years old. He married Hilda Jacobs Nov. 24, 1926 and built a farm between their parent's farms. He purchased the "home" farm after selling the farm Hilda and he built. Hilda passed away suddenly in 1954. He continued to farm until the mid-1970's when he retired. He sold the "home" farm to his son.
