Erling Garfield Aanenson, 72, Sweetwater, Texas, formerly of Luverne, died Saturday, April 5, 1997, in Rolling Plaines Memorial Hospital, Sweetwater.

Burial was in Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater.

Erling Garfield Aanenson was born to Theodore and Adrianne (Moi) Aanenson on March 8, 1925, in Rock county. He was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church, Luverne. He received his education in rural schools in Rock County.

He was one of seven brothers who served in the U.S. Armed Forces. He joined the U.S. Army in 1946 and served in the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal and the medal of occupied Japan. After his discharge from the military in 1947 he worked at Metz Baking Company in Sioux Falls, S.D. He moved to Texas in 1965 and worked in a cotton mill. Hr had made his home in Texas since that time.

He enjoyed playing the guitar and singing as well as baking and cooking..
Survivors include two sisters, Selma Gyberg, Beaver Creek, and Luella Braa, Luverne,; and two brothers, twin brother, Edwin Aanenson, Luverne, and Theodore Aanenson, Sioux Falls.

Mr. Aanenson was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.
