Death of Mrs. Ann Wood
Mrs. Ann Woods, the wife of Archie Woods, died at the residence of her brother, John Reynolds, in this town last Monday morning. Mrs. Woods was born in Ireland in 1825. She came to California in 1854, and almost directly to a farm owned by her brother, Wm Reynolds, some 7 miles above Colusa on the east side of the river. She soon became the owner of the farm in person, and owned it, we think at the date of her death. Some 20 years ago she married Mr Woods. Mrs Woods has always been a woman of character; has been self-reliant and has ever attended to business matters in-person. She was one of the oldest lay residents of this county. We can't remember over half a dozen now in the county who came here before she did. For the past few years, however, she has been living in Modoc where she and Mr Woods acquired a landed estate. Our acquaintance with her has extended over a period of more than 30 years, and during that time we have known her as a good neighbor and a pious Christian woman. The remains are being preserved until Mr. Woods can be summoned from Modoc when it is supposed they will sent to Iowa for interment. - Colusa Sun on 12/1/1888
