My goal is to reunite families in their entirety.

This idea came to me when first using FindAGrave and noting how lonely and sad the graves looked when the members were all by themselves with no context, links to other family members, etc. Only a sad (and sometimes scary) headstone and a few stats to remember them by.

This sad look seemed to disappear when the member's biography was added, family pictures added, obituaries added, and the member was linked to his family. Adding this context suddenly made the member's history and story come alive! The sad and lonely appearance of the original memorial was gone, you could now see how this member's life touched so many others' lives.

The work of reuniting families involves researching all members of a family and finding all their burial places. Finally, adding bits of context, facts, pictures, and stories, found during the research, makes each family's story complete.

This family 'linking' effort is considered useless, unneeded, and unwanted by many; they think that this effort adds no real value to FindAGrave.

The effort involved with 'just linking' [Edits] is valued so little that the Edits entered to link family members are not even counted, acknowledged, or posted like other contributions on the Profile page.

On the Apr 30 2019 'Thank You to the outstanding Find a Grave Community' message there was not one mention of contributions made by linkers. Update Feb 2024 : Knowledgement and thank you to 'linkers' for contributing 43M Edits in 2023.
