Mrs. Bessie Highsmith Booth, 90, died Monday (April 28, 2003) at Baptist Village following a long illness.

She was born in Clinch County but had spent most of her adult life in Waycross. She married to the late Benjamin Styles Booth, a devoted husband for 69 years, and was a daughter of the late James and Miranda Griffis Highsmith. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Mrs. Booth was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church and the Harvester Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Grandmother's Club and the Wacona Homemakers.

The survivors include three daughters, Hilda Hall and Nell Osborne (husband Harold) both of Waycross, Alice Douglas (husband O'Neal) of Jacksonville, FL; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Wednesday night from 6 until 8 o'clock and will make headquarters at the home of her daughter, Nell Osborne, at 611 Beville St. Waycross.
