RENSSELAER Joseph V. Buono, 95, of Rensselaer died Friday, October 5, 2018, at Evergreen Commons Rehabilitation Services. Joseph was born in Rensselaer and was the son of the late Gennaro and Maddalena Matera Buono. Husband of the late Edith DeJulio Buono. Father of Alexander (Denise) Buono, Connie (Philip) Bonacquisti and John (Therese) Buono. Grandfather of Matthew Buono (Katherine Robb), Mark Buono (Alison Holstein), Christopher (Sara) Bonacquisti, Eric Bonacquisti, Gregory Bonacquisti, Bernard (Ann) Mantha, Amy (Paul) Wiese, Michelle (William) Reid and Marc (Kristina) Mantha. Great-grandfather of Amelia and Quinn Bonacquisti, Owen McClain, Sara Mantha, Caden, Milo and Riley Wiese, Bayly and Ethan Reid. Also survived by his sister-in-law, Luella Buono; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brothers, Nicholas, Stephen, Albert, James, Dominic and John Buono; and sister, Natalie Keefe. Joseph was a longtime communicant of St. John the Evangelist and St. Joseph Church in Rensselaer. He proudly served his country during World War II in the US Navy. He was a member of the G.S. Mink and T. Claxton Hose Company and served as the Assistant Fire Chief for the City of Rensselaer for many years. He was also a member of the Rensselaer Council #267 K of C, the Gerald O'Neil American Legion Post #1683 for 72 years and the Leonardo Da Vinci Lodge. Before retirement, Joseph worked for Sano-Rubin Construction Company for over 30 years and was a member of Laborers Local #190 and the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local #294. Upon retirement, Joseph was able to enjoy spending more time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed the camaraderie of his neighbors at Franciscan Heights.
