RENSSELAER -- Dominick J. Buono, age 77, of Illinois Avenue, died Saturday, October 24, 1998 at his residence after a long illness. He was born in Rensselaer and has been a life long resident of the city. Mr. Buono was employed on the police force for the City of Rensselaer for 28 years retiring 15 years ago. He was a member of the Rensselaer Police Benevolent Association. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the European-African Middle Eastern Campaign and Asiatic Pacific Campaign where he was wounded in battle receiving the Purple Heart Medal. He was a charter member of the Gerald O'Neil Post #1683 American Legion and Raymond Ranellucci VFW Post, both of Rensselaer. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church, Rensselaer. He is husband of Luella Heron Buono of Rensselaer; father of Cynthia Buono and Denise Gagnon, both of Rensselaer; father-in-law of Aaron Gagnon of Rensselaer; brother of Albert Buono of Rensselaer, James Buono of Suffern, NY, Joseph Buono of West Sand Lake and the late Nicholas, Stephen and John Buono and Natalie (Dolly) Keefe. Also survived by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
