'Lorraine' was the 3rd of 14 children born to Oswald T. and Leota Smithson Davis. She married Russell Stanfill on Sept. 24, 1938 in Braggs, Muskogee Co., OK. Together they had 2 sons and 2 daughters who survive. When Lorraine was in grammer school in Braggs, she won a math contest and was eligible to go to Oklahoma City to compete against other winner in the state. Because she had no shoes, her mother refused to let her go. The teacher offered to get her some but again Leota refused. She said they wouldn't take charity. Because of the dustbowl, her parents lost their farm and thus, followed the fruit so the kids missed a lot of school but somehow managed to keep up. Times were tough and so were they. Survivors all, they led their lives as honest, hardworking people with Lorraine's 3 brothers going into law enforcement. Her husband drove cement truck for a Marysville, CA, based firm for many years.
She was a good wife, mother and friend.
