Willard Garth Andrus, age 96, was born in Marion, Utah on April 19, 1922, the third of eight children born to Willard Oscar and Gwendolyn Andrus. He served in the Coast Guard during WWII and married Eloise Adamson on October 30, 1942 in the Salt Lake Temple. They celebrated their 75th anniversary last October. Together they had six children: Vaughn (Ann), Brent (Cheri), LaRene Adams (Jim), Eilene Christensen, Rick (Debbi), and Brad (Teri). He leaves a grand legacy of 31 grandchildren and 95 great-grandchildren. Garth and Eloise served six missions, including Mission President in Philippines, Manila 1980-1983, Manila Temple President from 1984-1987, and President of the California Oakland Mission 1992-93. He presided over the Nauvoo Visitor's Center and served two missions in Africa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Maxine, Lucy, LaVon, Gwendolyn, Wanda, Maurine; and brother Marlin. He passed away at his home, surrounded by loving family on June 7, 2018. You set the bar high, Dad, and gave us a great example of love and service to the Lord.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 15th, 11:00 a.m. at the Draper Stake Center on 13085 South, 300 East. Viewings will be held there Thursday 6:00-7:30 p.m. and Friday 9:30-10:45 a.m. before the services. Interment will be at Holladay Memorial Park.
