"Lucy Andrus Erekson 1920 ~ 2006 Our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend passed away peacefully in her sleep September 9, 2006. Lucy was born December 11, 1920 in Kamas, Utah to Willard Oscar and Gwendolyn Andrus. She married the love of her life, Vaughn Miller Erekson, in the Salt Lake Temple July 31, 1943. She was raised in Kamas, UT and was the second of eight children. She graduated as Valedictorian of her class from South Summit High School in 1938 and went on to attend Brigham Young University and LDS Business College. She held many jobs in her field of accounting/bookkeeping including; the Telephone Co., Post Office, and Utah Power and Light. Upon her marriage, she "retired" from these jobs and began her fulltime calling as a wife and mother of eleven children. Mom loved to work in the garden and was especially proud of her prized tomatoes. She enjoyed family history work, canning, crocheting, and playing the piano and organ. Mom was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and fulfilled many callings; Relief Society president, MIA president, organist, visiting teacher, and the most awesome den mother. Later in life, she and Dad served four missions together which included; Arizona Holbrook Mission, New Mexico Albuquerque Mission, Singapore/India New Delhi Mission, and the Church Office (lost memberships). She is survived by her children: Milo (Gayle) Erekson of Declo, Idaho; David (Lynda) Erekson of Salome, Arizona; Shannon (Gary) Pickell of Salt Lake City, Utah; Steven Erekson of Salt Lake City, Utah; RoLayne (Allen) Jensen of Tremonton, Utah; Fiona (Brent) Winkler of Salt Lake City, Utah; Paul (KimberLee) Erekson of Oceanside, California; Peter (Diana) Erekson of Salt Lake City; Lucy (Lance) Christopherson of Centerville, Utah; Jeff (Suzie) Erekson of South Jordan, Utah; and Jerry Erekson of Salt Lake City, Utah; and 35 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Garth and her sisters; Maxine, Gwendolyn, Wanda, and Maurine. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister LaVon, and brother Marlin. The family would like to thank all of the nurses and staff at Orchard Cove who have cared for her through this difficult time over the last months. The love, compassion, and devotion they provided to our mother are very much appreciated by the family. Funeral services will be held Thursday Sept. 14, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Centerville Greenfield Ward, 1298 North 400 West, Centerville, Utah. Friends may call Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary 4760 So. State St., and from 10:00-10:45 a.m. at the church prior to the services. Interment will be in the Murray City Cemetery.
