Jacky K. Abernathy, 77, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, May 22, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 17, 1940 in Canalou, Missouri, the son of Charles and Opal (Bishop) Abernathy.
Jacky married the love of his life, Roxie Neal on January 7, 1960 in East Prairie, Missouri. He worked for 22 years at Quaker Oats in Rockford.
Jacky made his spiritual home at Kishwaukee Baptist Church in Rockford. He enjoyed fishing and tinkering around. Most of all, he loved his grandchildren, and his dogs.
Jacky is loved and missed by: his wife of 58 years, Roxie; children, Jacky (Joni) Abernathy, Edwina Lindenmeier, Harold Abernathy, Rebecca Drolsum, and Ludella (Thomas) Smith; 13 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Bonnie Riley, Dorothy Collins, Robert Abernathy and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; son, Russell A. Abernathy; brothers, J.C, and Larry Abernathy; and sisters, Sandra Higgens, Shirley Brown and Darlene Bolden.
