Mr. Abernathy, son of Charles Abernathy and Opal (Lundella) Abernathy, was born January 12, 1942, in Canalou, Missouri. He worked in the Corvette Department of General Motors.
On November 18, 1962, he was married to Diana Eddens, in East Prairie Missouri, and she survives.
Also surviving are 3 children, daughters Sherry Herald of Simths Grove, KY, Ronda Lowe of Edmonton KY, one son Michael Abernathy of Fairdealing; 3 sisters Bonnie, Darlene, & Dorothy; 2 brothers, Kenneth & Robert; and four grandchildren Miranda, Stacey, Samantha, & Brittinie; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Sondra & brother Larry.
Visitation will begin at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 12, 2015, at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. A funeral service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Brother Ronnie Payne officiating. Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery in Grandin.
