Obituary for Althea Marion Allen
Althea Marion Allen, age 98, passed quietly in her sleep with her sister by her side on Tuesday afternoon, March 27, 2018. Althea was born October 28, 1919, in Biloxi, Mississippi, to William Leo Allen and Annie Frances Allen. She attended Catholic school and was later employed at Keesler AFB with the Army and Air Force Exchange Service. After several years of dedicated service, she retired in January 1976. She was a devoted daughter who committed her life to caring for her parents and then later moved to Milton, Florida, in June of 1987.

Althea became involved as a volunteer at Santa Rosa Medical Center where she worked for 15 years. She loved to sing, grow marigolds and zinnias and cook delicious food.

She is survived by her sister, Carolyn V. Simpson and a host of nieces and nephews; Suzanne Simpson Thornburg (Craig), Katie, Frank, Will and Kellie; Christy Simpson Dilauro (Dave), Jennah and Jordan; Cindy P. Simpson, Christopher (Kalli) and Andrew. She was lovingly known to all of them as "Nin-Nin".

Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2018, Lewis Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will be held in Biloxi, Mississippi, at a private family service.

A special "THANK YOU" to the staff and caregivers at Pruitt Health of Santa Rosa for their loving care of Althea since June 2014.
