OBITUARY:

W.J. Fowler Dies; Rites on Tuesday

Wesley J. Fowler, 61, 550 10th Ave. S, was stricken with a heart attack Saturday and died at 12:45 p.m. after being taken to Riverview Hospital by ambulance.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the First Methodist Church by the Rev. Milton C. Feldt and there will be Masonic services conducted by Fred W. Burt at Forest Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Fowler was born in Hillsboro Feb. 18, 1892, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Burgess Fowler. A resident of Wisconsin Rapids for the past 26 years, he was a conductor on the Chicago, Milwaukee adn St. Paul railroad until his retirement in 1949. He married Ferne E. Knutson at Mauston, Jan. 1, 1925.

He was a member of Wisconsin Rapids Lodge No. 128, F. and A.M; Wisconsin Rapids Chapter No. 89, Royal Arch Masons, and a charter member of Buckley-Baldwin Post No. 2534, Veterans of Foreign Wars. He served overseas as a private in the 77th Co. transportation coprs during World War I.

Mr. Fowler is survived by his wife and son Wesley D. Fowler, Wisconsin Rapids, and his mother Mrs. Mary Fowler, New Lisbon. Other survivors are three brothers, Elgin Fowler, Wausau; Jesse Fowler, Oregon, Ill.; and Charles Fowler, Redwood City, Calif. There is one sister Mrs. J.C. Grable, also of Redwood, and two grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Baker Chapel until noon Tuesday and at the church from then until time of services.
