Daughter of Julius David and Annie Glisson Rowell. She married her second cousin, William Henry Rowell. Sallie and Willie had nine children, including two sets of boy/girl twins.

Sallie's granddaughter Rita remembers, "Sunday Dinner at Grandmother Sallie's was a true feast. There would be many fresh vegetables, meats, biscuits, and at least 3 different kinds of cakes as well as pies. She and her girls must have prepared for this dinner for several days. She was a mighty good cook. I remember after dinner all the men would head out to the far side of the yard to play ball. There were enough of them, along with their brothers-in-law to make up a team. There was much laughter, banter and cheering. I think they looked forward to that time together for weeks. The children would play on the opposite side of the house. It was fun. Wonderful memories.

I remember we were all there when Grandmother Sallie died. Before she died, all the grandchildren were lined up, and told we could all go into her room in a line, and tell her we loved her, etc. We were a very solemn group of children. All the adults stayed on the porch, and we children went back to subdued playing. A few hours later, she died. I will never forget that, and how glad I was that we all got to tell her goodbye and that she got to see all of her grandchildren together."

Willie and Sallie would not be parted for long. Willie died six weeks later on August 27, 1941.
