Opal Hunt Carpenter, age 80, of Mount Tabor Road, Ewing, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at her home, with her loving family by her side. She was born in Fleming County, Kentucky, on February 20, 1938, a daughter of the late Avery Fleming Hunt and Elizabeth Earlywine Hunt. Opal was a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and canning, writing poems and watching QVC Network and was an avid collector. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by: her husband, Robert Edward Carpenter; three sisters, Anna Gray, Emma Gray and Joy Mitchell; three brothers, Avery Estill Hunt, David Hunt and Steavie Hunt; and two grandchildren, Heather Love Carpenter and Timbo Mitchell. Opal is survived by: eight children, Beverly (Miller) Smith, of Ewing, Robin (Timmy) Mitchell, of Flemingsburg, Timmy (Amy) Carpenter, of Ewing, Libby (James) Lane, of Decatur, Tennessee, Kim (Randy) Baker, of Manchester, Ohio, Avery Carpenter, of Ewing, Robbie (Melinda) Carpenter, of Cowan, Kentucky, and Stevie (Becky) Carpenter, of Ewing; a brother, Rocky (Teresa) Hunt, of Flemingsburg; two sisters, Hazel Kerns, of Flemingsburg, and Carolyn (Leo) Pollitt, of Flemingsburg; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.
