On June 7, 1952, Henry was united in marriage with Betty J. Russell. Together, Henry and Betty were blessed with two children, Bruce and Sheila. During January of 1953, Henry entered into the U.S. Army and selflessly served his country until January of 1955. Henry went on to become a postal carrier for the U.S.P.S, at the Brookside location in Kansas City, until his retirement. He was a member of the Belton Church of Christ in Belton, Missouri. Henry and his wife, Betty, enjoyed traveling everywhere across the United States together (especially sunny Florida), and they made many friends along the way during their adventures. Music was a major source of joy in Henry’s life. He loved to sing and spend time “pickin’” country and bluegrass tunes with his friends. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Cora Smith; his son, Bruce Wayne Smith; brothers, Ray, Charley, Harley, and Lloyd Smith; and sisters, Gracie Warren, Alma Don Carlos, Thelma Trail, and Esta Howard. Henry is survived by his devoted wife of 64 years, Betty J. Smith; his daughter, Sheila; two sisters, Alta Newberry and Dolly Rieger; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and last but not least, his loving granddog, Zoey.
