The Greenwood Commonwealth, Volume 33, Number 274; Page 1, Column 3 top; Monday Afternoon, July 18, 1949"Bettie Lloyd Slaton, 15-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Slaton of Carrollton, succumbed to injuries this morning at the Grenada hospital following an automobile accident yesterday about 10 o'clock when she fell from a truck and the wheels passed over her body. --- Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at Pisgah Baptist church with rites conducted by Rev. L. D. Sellers. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Wilson and Knight in charge. --- Besides her parents, she is survived by the following sisters and brothers: Mrs. Annie Maud Hoover, Mrs. Myrtis Ugalini, Miss Josephine Slaton, all of Greenville; Mrs. Christine Williams, Grenada; Marvin Slaton, Greenwood; Paul Slaton, Thomas Slaton and Bobby Slaton, all of Carrollton."
