Mrs. Josephine Slaton Evans, 87, of Boyle, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015, in Boyle. Visitation will be 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Ray Funeral Home with Rev. Clarence Edwards officiating. Interment will be in New Cleveland Cemetery.

Mrs. Evans was born in Carroll County, MS, on October 16, 1926, to W.J. Slaton and Annie Mullins Slaton. She married Fred Dailey Evans, Jr. on July 1, 1956, in Boyle, MS. She worked for many years as a registered nurse and was a member of Boyle Baptist Church. Mrs. Evans enjoyed spending time with family and grandchildren, reading, doing puzzles, and working in her yard. She will be remembered for her soft voice, loving manner, and positive attitude.

She is preceded in death by her parents, W.J. and Annie Slaton; husband, Fred Dailey Evans, Jr.; and sisters, Mertis Ugolini and Christine Williams.

Mrs. Evans is survived by her children, Joan Evans of Boyle, MS; Pam Evans of Brandon, MS, Fred D. Evans, III (Mimi) of Tupelo, MS, Gregory S. Evans of Houston, TX, and William D. Evans (Carolyn) of Franklin, TN; 8 grandchildren, Dailey, Newman, Katie, Natasha, Cole, Alex, Addy and Josie; sister, Ann Overton of Dallas, TX; brother, Marvin Slaton (Jane) of Greenwood, MS; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
