DEATH OF ELZA A. RUPE
Elza A. Rupe was born Aug. 15, 1896, in Polo and died Dec. 1, 1959 at the Veterans Hospital in Kansas City where he had been a patient for 5 months. He had been in failing health the past three years. He was 63 years of age.
Mr. Rupe grew to manhood here and served in the U.S. Army in World War I.
Survivors include three sons, Dr. C.E. Rupe, Detroit, Mich., Marion A. Rupe, Des Moines, Ia., and E.A. Rupe, Denver, Colo., four daughters, Mrs. Delcena Adams, Kansas City, Mrs. Ila May Goodson, Jacksonville, Fla., Mrs. Imogene Kaufman, Kansas City, and Mrs. Mary Vickers, Ft. Smith, Ark.; one brother, Ralph Rupe, Lathrop; five sisters, Mrs. Maude Roberts of St. Joseph, Mrs. Jessie Shufler of Polo, Mrs. Carrie Murray of Maryland, Mrs. Verdella Clark of Excelsior Springs and Mrs. Anna Irvin of Kansas City; also several
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Alspaugh-Cowley Funeral home Friday with Rev. Don Stanley officiating. Mrs. John McCollough sang and Mrs. Cliff Fowler was organist.
Burial was made in Zimmerman cemetery south of Polo in charge of Alspaugh-Cowley. American Legion members of the Polo post acted as casket bearers and performed graveside military rites.
Among those from out of town to attend the service were Mrms. Ralph Rupe
and family of Lathrop; E.A. Rupe of Denver, Colo., Mrms. Clint Adams and Linda, Kansas City; Mrs. Verdella Clark, Excelsior Springs; Mrs. Elsie Rupe, Lathrop; Mrms. Vaughn Murray, Chillicothe; Mrms. J.W. Murray, Plymouth; and Mrms. Bill Burray, Mrs. Lawrence McKnight, Mrs. Clifford Davis, all of Braymer and Mrs. Dorothy Rupe Lee of Kansas City.
