Obituary of Mrs. Yoho
Martha Lela Clark, daughter of Jeremiah and Mary Jane Clark, was born near Polo, November 9, 1882. She had been in failing health the past two years and had been bedfast the past four weeks. She departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Eldon Howell near Kingston, July 21, 1947, at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 12 days.
She had spent her entire life in the vicinity of Polo.
She was united in marriage to John Oliver Yoho, December 1, 1898. To this union five children were born. One daughter, Ruth, died in infancy. Those surviving are Mrs. George Rauber of Hamilton; Mrs. George Burkhart of Cameron; Mrs. Bert Cox of Altamont; Mrs. Eldon Howell, Polo; three step-children, William T. Yoho of Wisconsin, Mrs. John Pollard of Colorado, Mrs. Russell Riddle of Breckenridge.
Her husband preceded her in death December 26, 1930.
Those surviving besides the four daughters are five sisters; Mrs. Anna Irwin of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Mary Rupe, Horton, Kansas, Mrs. Cora Griggs of Bakersfield, Calif., Mrs. Carrie Clark of Polo, Mrs. Verdella Clark of Hardin and a half brother, Elza Rupe of Kansas; also 19 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Besides rearing her own children Mrs. Yoho became the foster mother of four of her daughter's children after the death of their father.
She united with the United Brethren Church in Polo when a young girl and later moved her membership to the Federated Church of Kingston. Pallbearers were Charles Howell, Charles Houghton, Walter McNary, John Ross, Oliver Ross, John Brown.
Funeral services were held at the Clark Funeral Home in Kingston, Wednesday at 2:30, conducted by Rev. James Heath. Interment was in the Kingston cemetery.
