Viola, 95, of 1209 Indiana Ave. in St. Marys, died at 6:20 a.m., at the St. Marys Living Center.

She was born to Herman and Catherine (Huecker) Berning. On Sept. 10, 1930, she married Ferdinand Bruns, who precedes her in death.

Surviving are four sons, Mike, Michigan, Bill, Decatur, IN, Tom, Ada, Robert, Rockford; seven daughters, Darlene Thees, Millie Donovan, Vicki Giere and Marie Hornburger, all Celina, Clara Beougher, Rockford, Wilma Quelhorst, St. Marys, and Thelma Grilliot of Lakeland, FL; 35 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, 14 great-great-grandchildren, 9 step great-grandchildren, 14 step great-great grandchildren; a sister Alma Davis, St. Marys.

Deceased are two sons, Donald and John Bruns; three daughters, Martha Young, Ruth McMahan, and Helen Pearson; five brothers, Richard, Herbert, Raymond, Albert, and Henry Berning; two sisters, Angie and Linda.

She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial was held at the church, with Fr. Thomas Brenberger C.PP.S., officiating.
