Chester L. Cook, 81 of 617 East Gandy Street, died at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Springfield Memorial Medical Center, where he had been a patient five and one-half months.

Mr. Cook was born March 11, 1900, at Taylorville, a son of William and Elizabeth Barnes Cook and January 27, 1941, he was married at St. Charles, Mo. to Elva Brookens. He had resided his entire lifetime in this city where he was an employee of the Central Illinois Power Company, prior to his retirement in 1963. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

Surviving are his widow; four sons, Leroy of Taylorville, Robert of Toledo, Larry of Freeburg, and Stanley of Decatur; six daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Mary Elizabeth) Murray of Decatur, Mrs. Wilbert (Minnie) Griffin of Kincaid, Mrs. Delmar (Julia) Zeitler, Mrs. Paul (Janice) Beck, Mrs. Jack (Rosetta) Neal, all of Taylorville and Mrs. Alva (Marcia) Miller of Pana; one brother, Fred of Taylorville; three sisters, Mrs. Maude Illson of Sacramento, Calif., Mrs. Floy Durham and Mrs. Georgia Berringer, both of Taylorville; 23 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, in the Connolly Funeral Home with the Rev. James Whitaker, pastor of Davis Memorial Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Mound Chapel Cemetery, south of Taylorville.

Friends may call from 6 until 9 p,.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
