HARVEY, Garnett Hoskins, 75, of Glen Allen, Va., died Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Harvey Homeplace in Lowesville. He was the loving husband of Gerry McCraw Harvey for 45 years. Born May 11, 1933 in Lynchburg, Va., he was a son of the late Thomas Edwin Harvey and Margie Massie Harvey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Bertha Phillips and Maxine Jones; five brothers, Massie, William, Julian, Fulcher, and Sumpter Harvey. Mr. Harvey was a 1956 honor graduate of Virginia Tech with memberships in four National Honorary Fraternities. He served in the U.S. Army stationed at the White House during President Eisenhower's Administration. For 37 years, Mr. Harvey was an agent with State Farm Insurance Company in northern Virginia where he and his family resided for 40 years. He was a longtime faithful member of Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church, Va. having served as an usher, deacon and trustee. He was more recently an active member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Va. where he and his wife have resided for five½ years. In addition to his wife, he leaves to cherish his memory three children, Gill Harvey Wimbish and husband, Carlyle R. "Randy" Wimbish III of Richmond, Va., Gary L. Harvey and wife, Katherine Nichols Harvey of Arlington, Va., and Ginger Harvey Huffman and husband, Troy M. Huffman of Richmond, Va.; four sisters, Roselle Mays and Frances Reynolds of Newport News, Va., Tessie Mays of Amherst, Va., and Marjorie Jessee of Salem, Va.; one brother, Herbert Harvey of Hampton, Va.; six grandchildren, C. R. Wimbish, IV (Cary), Grayson Harvey Wimbish, Hampton Massie Wimbish, Leighton Grace Huffman, Addison Elizabeth Huffman of Richmond, Va., and Alyson Brooke Harvey of Arlington, Va.; and many other treasured family members and friends. A celebration of life will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at Piney River Baptist Church in Lowesville, Va. by Dr. Neal T. Jones and Dr. Don Runion with burial to follow in the Harvey Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, September 29, 2008 at Piney River Baptist Church and other times at the residence in Lowesville.
