Edward Lee Collins, Jr.
(March 4, 1926 - March 24, 2007)

Services for Edward Lee Collins, Jr. will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, March 26, 2007 at Sardis Baptist Church near Atlanta, La, with Rev. Danny Keyes and Rev. Ricky Gresham officiating. Burial will be in the Sardis Cemetery under the direction of Southern Funeral Home of Winnfield. Mr. Collins, age 81, stepped through the gates of Heaven on Saturday, March 24, 2007.
Edward Collins, a retired builder, was a member, sunday school teacher, and deacon at Sardis Baptist Church for over 50 years. He served his country with pride during World War II, earning the Bronze Star after being captured behind German lines in 1944. In 1945, Mr. Collins returned to Atlanta, La. where he married his wife of 55 years, Doris Gibbs Collins. Mr. Collins was an avid sportsman and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his sons and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Susie Collins, three sisters, Becky Sharp, Helen Dalton, and Dorothy Attaway; and three brothers, Cecil Collins, Richard Collins, and Bill Collins. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Doris Collins; his children, Vicky Marcantel and husband Merek; Craig Collins and wife Dana; Judy Aguillard and husband Joe; Thomas Collins and wife Angie; and Paul Collins; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Jennifer Madion.

Friends may visit with the family at Southern Funeral Home in Winnfield on Sunday, March 25, 2007 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM. The family will also receive friends at the Sardis Baptist Church on Monday, March 26, 2007 from 9:00 AM until time of services

The family asks that donations in memory of Mr. Collins be made to Sardis Baptist Church, 10912 Highway 34, Winnfield, LA 71483.
