Clark W. Dukes, 74, one time Blanchard Township landowner, died from heat prostration at 5 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Hancock County home. He was overcome by heat at 7 o'clock Monday evening and failed to rally.
Mr. Dukes had been a well known farmer. He was born May 16, 1862 in Blanchard township, and spent his entire life in Hancock county. He was the son of Lewis and Laura (Spangler) Dukes.
On Jan 14, 1885, Mr. Dukes was united in marriage with Mrs. Lucy Moore, who preceded him in death. Four children survive him.
Carol Wells of Findlay; Merle L. Dukes of Union township; Merritt E. Dukes of Western avenue; and Ura D. Dukes, Mt. Cory, RFD 1.
A brother is Parley Dukes of South Main street, and a sister, Mrs Elizabeth Jackson of Blanchard township.
Mr. Dukes was a Methodist.
The body was taken to Coldren funeral home where services were held. Rev. W.P. Alspach officiated.
Burial will be in Dukes cemetery.

In the obituary it states that Mr. Clark Dukes would be buried in Dukes Cemetery. It also give the same info on his death certificate. But in the cemetery inscription books for both cemeteries, it listed Clark Dukes for Benton Ridge Cemetery, Benton Ridge, Hancock, Ohio. I took the photo of his marker at that cemetery.
