Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thurs., March 22, for Esther L. Erickson, 97, Flandreau, who died on March 18, 2007, at Riverview Manor there. The services will be held in Messiah Lutheran Church, rural Trent, and burial will be in Oslo Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Skroch Funeral Chapel in Flandreau.
Esther Olson was born on Dec. 11, 1909, in Pipestone County, Minn., to Carl and Sena (Bonrud) Olson. She attended country school and married Conrad Erickson on July 10, 1930, at Flandreau. They lived in Grovena Township until 1966, when they retired and moved into Flandreau. Her husband died on March 15, 1985.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School; was active in 4-H and Moody Rustlers Club.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Sharon) of Flandreau; three daughters, Doris (Bennett) Stenberg of Salvisa, Ky., Marian Fargen of Flandreau, and Sharon Foss of Hastings, Minn.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Orville (Ruth) Olson of Madison; a brother-in-law, Arnold Erickson of Springfield, Va.; and four sisters-in-law, Eva (Roy) White of Richfield, Minn., Iva Erickson, Arlene Erickson and Dorothy Olson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a son-in-law; a brother, Gordon; and two sisters, Josie and Opal Erickson.
