Mrs. Mona May Claypool, a resident of Scott county the last 39 years, died at 2:48 p.m. Thursday at the family home, 115 West Locast Street. Her death terminated a brief illness.
Born in Rural Valley, Pa, July 24, 1871, she moved to Kittanning Pa., with her parents when she was a child, and there attended school. She was married to Addison K. Claypool in Kittanning, Feb. 14, 1888, and six years later the couple came to Scott County, settling in Blue Grass.
In 1900 they moved to Buffalo, Iowa, and 13 years later, came to Davenport. Here Mr. Claypool died, Nov. 27, 1927. She was a member of Calvary Baptist church. Surviving are five sons, F. Laverne, W. Lionel, A. Newton and DeLoyd A. Claypool of Evansville, Ind.; three daughters, the Misses Marie and Lorna Claypool, at home, and Mrs. John L. Pierce of Davenport; a sister, Mrs. H. B. Moorhead of Davenport; five brothers, W. F., Bowser of Davenport, Herbert, Albert and Orlando Bowser of Buffalo and Robert Bowser of Detroit, Mich., and six grandchildren.
The body was removed to the Hill & Fredericks mortuary, and funeral services will be held in the chapel there at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in the Blue Grass cemetery.
