Harvey J. Buckner, 81, died Thursday, June 17, 1999 in an Albany, Texas nursing home. Funeral services were held Saturday, June 19 at First Baptist Church of Albany with the Revs. John Tunnell, Don Clevenger, and Dewey Lamb officiating. Burial was in Albany Cemetery under the direction of Godfrey-Neese Funeral Home.

Buckner was born July 2, 1917 in Red Rock, Texas. He was the widower of Susie Belle Newcomb Buckner and Bettie Lou Allen Buckner. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. for three years and the U. S. Army for four years during World War II. He was formerly associated with American National Insurance Company. He operated several service stations and was an ordained minister.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Sue Torres; five sisters, Juanita Hodges, Ferrell Roberts, Irene Blizzard, Ovella Tumlinson, & Vada Rackel; three brothers, Norman Buckner, Curtis Buckner, & Elton Buckner; and six step-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Katie Lee Buckner.

Pallbearers were Billy Boland, Mark Gardenhire, Harold Higginbotham, Jeff Jones, Jacque Molyneaux, John Ross Reames, Kyle Viertel, and Ken Hill. The remaining deacons were honorary pallbearers.
