Irene Jenette Blisard, long-time resident of Elgin, Texas, went to be with her heavenly father on July 25, 2015, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

Irene was born on August 14, 1928, in the New Elm Community of Red Rock, Caldwell County, Texas, to Ervin and Kate Buckner. She was the youngest of 14 children.

Irene was a sensitive, loving woman and her greatest happiness came in seeing those around her happy. She spent most of her adult years as a homemaker in addition to helping her husband run a dairy. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Elgin, and for many years served as the nursery director. She later handled the church’s card ministry for homebound members. She was especially gifted in working with children and cared for her grandchildren while their parents worked.

She was survived by her husband of 66 years, Glen Blisard, three daughters, a son, 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. She was also survived by siblings Juanita Hodge, Ferrell Roberts, Ovella Tumlinson, and Jack Buckner. She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 siblings, and one son-in-law.

The funeral service was held Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at the Providence-Jones Family Funeral Home Chapel in Elgin, Texas.
