A service will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Camas First Baptist Church for Linda J. Wright, who died March 15, 1987, in Vancouver at the age 66.
Mrs Wright was born Nov. 5, 1920 in Ritner, Ky., and had lived 42 years in Washougal. She was a member of the Camas First Baptist church and the Mt. Pleasant Grange.
Mrs. Wright came West with her four sisters to work in the Crown Zellerbach paper mill in Camas during the manpower shortage. She worked at the converting plant and at times on men's jobs before leaving in 1951 to raise her wonderful family.
She married her husband Alfred Wright Aug 13, 1945, the day before World War II ended. They were married 41 years and had three sons.
Mrs. Wright enjoyed hiking, camping and especially ocean fishing with her friends. An accomplished gardener, she was a 4-H garden leader for many years. She took many top awards and blue ribbons with her quilts.
She is survived by her husband, Alfred Wright of Washougal; sons Roger of Vancouver and Ronald and Claude of Washougal; brothers Everett Mason of Montecello, Ky., John Mason of Smithtown, Ky., and Orin Mason of Muncey, Ind.; sisters Dorothy Peet of Washougal and Letha Yates, Veda Young and Ruby Anthony of Muncey, Ind.; two grandson and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pastor Larry Kidwell will officiate. Burial will be at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery.
Donations can be made to the Southwest Washington Hospice or the Camas First Baptist Memorial Fund.
