MUNCIE - Veda E. Young, 87, passed away Sunday, January 20, 2013 at I. U. Health Ball Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born in Stearns, Kentucky, July 5, 1925, the daughter of Harrison and Ada Mason.
Veda was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She had worked for Ball Corp. for forty-five years, enjoyed working in her flower garden and taking care of ill family members and grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to the Alpha Center.
Survivors include her son, Jerry Young, (wife, Carla), Yorktown; a brother, Lloyd Mason, (wife, Ann), Muncie; one sister, Dorothy Peet, Wauchula, Washington: two grandchildren, Brittany Keen, (husband, Thomas) and Kristen Young; three great-grandsons, Thomas, Toby, Trent.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clyde; two brothers, John and Everett, three sisters, Ruby, Linda and Letha.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 25, 2013 at Parson Mortuary with Rev. Chip Gast officiating. Burial will follow in Elm Ridge Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Parson Mortuary or one hour prior to service time on Friday.
