Mrs. Casas was born October 20, 1897 in Monterrey, Mexico. As a teenager, she and her family immigrated to the Texas Coast in 1904, where they settled in Corpus Christi. She had since then been a life long resident of Corpus Christi. Having been an active member of the Catholic Daughters of America and the Holy Rosary for 30 years, Mrs. Casas was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
Immigrated to the USA from Mexico in 1904 at the age of 15 with parents, Juan and Severiana Pena and sisters, Juana (20), Severiana (18), Manuela (17), Cruz (14), Paubla (13), and Lorenza (12).
She was preceded in death by her former husbands, Julian Cabrera and Noe T. Casas (d. 1947), a son Seferino Cabrera (d. 1975), and a daughter, Pauline Casas Dawes (d. 12 Sept 1974).
Also preceded in death by her parents, Juan Pena and Severiana Maldonado Pena. Her sisters; Juanita Barrera, Cruz Pena Casas, Severiana Pena, and Manuela P. Cavazos all of Corpus Christi, TX, and Paula P. Garza of San Antonio, TX.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Maria Cabrera Cantu (Gustavo) of Brownsville, TX., Miss Frances P. Cabrera, Mrs. Aurora Cabrera Flores (Rudolpho) and Mrs. Dolores Casas Pedraza (Hernandez), all of Corpus Christi, TX; and two sons, Simon F. Casas and Perfecto Noe Casas, both of Corpus Christi; and one sister, Mrs. Lorenza Pena (d. 1997) of Oxnard, California. Mrs. Casas also was survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Family received friends and family on Sunday, December 22, 1985 at Memorial Funeral Home. A rosary was recited later that evening. A funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, December 23, 1985 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Interment followed at Rose Hill Cemetery.
