EXCERPT FROM CALLER-TIMES (1/25/1962 - Section C, 12D)

CORPUS CHRISTI, TX - Miss Severiana (Chala) Maldonado Pena, 73, died at 4:15 yesterday morning at the home of a sister, Mrs. San Juana P. Casas of 718 Fourteenth. Funeral Services will be at 3 p.m. today at San Jose Catholic Church, with the Rev. Henry Romer officiating.

Chala never married and had no children. She was caregiver to her parents before their deaths and ironed for others to earn money. Miss Pena had lived here 53 years.

Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery under direction of Juan Gonzalez Funeral Home.

Miss Pena is preceded in death by her parents Juan and Severiana Maldonado Pena and her sisters; Manuela P. Cavazos, Juanita P. Barrera, and Cruz Pena Casas.

Other survivors include her sisters, Mrs. Paula P. Garza of San Antonio, TX, Mrs. Lorenza Pena and San Juana Casas both of Corpus Christi, TX.
