William Nelson Hatch, 73, passed away on October 5, 1998 at his home in St. George, Utah. He was born in Bancroft on August 31, 1925 to Ammon Call Hatch and Anna Olive Hatch.
He was raised in Chesterfield. He graduated from North Gem High School in 1943 and was drafted into the Army in February 1944. He served in France and Germany during World War II in the 1269th Combat Engineer Battalion.
In 1950 he went on a mission to the Northwestern States Mission for the LDS Church. The mission was split and he completed his mission in the West Central States mission. He served in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and South Dakota.
In 1952 he married Constance Marie Akins in Idaho Falls. They operated a dairy farm operation in Hatch where they made their home. In 1970, they moved their dairy and cattle operation to Cache Valley. He retired from the farm and enjoyed raising a few livestock, both horses and cows, which he loved.
He is survived by his wife, Connie of St. George; a sister, Vera Bartlett; a brother, Joseph Hatch; and a brother, Paul Hatch; and children: Steven (Melanie) of Mendon, Utah, Tim (Varsi) of Hyde Park, Utah, Carolyn (Bert) Ashcroft of Hyde Park, Utah, and Jeff (Collette) of Logan, Utah. He had 15 grandchildren and was preceded in death by a sister, a brother, and one grandson.
The funeral will be held at the Chesterfield Ward Chapel Near Bancroft on Friday, Oct 9. Burial will be at the Chesterfield Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Sims Funeral Home.
