Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 3, at the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church in Fort Calhoun for Carlos A. Dey who died Saturday afternoon, January 31, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Blair. Rev. William Mulford officiated at the services. Burial was in the Fort Calhoun Cemetery. Sievers-Sprick Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Paul C. Kruger, Howard Barnes, Richard Larsen, Richard Burmeister, Otis Hawkins and Robert Frahm.

Harold Swanson, Edward Lorenzen, Walter Ohrt and Rick Burmeister participated in Masonic Services at the church and Gayle Maine and Albert Suverkrubbe presented the flag at the cemetery in behalf of the American Legion.

Carlos A. Dey was born December 11, 1915 in Gresham, Nebraska. He was the son of Louis and Anna Dey. Carlos moved to Fort Calhoun with his family at the age of five, and has lived here since that time. He married Laura Klahn on January 11, 1941. They had one daughter, Loretta.

Carlos is a 1934 graduate of the Fort Calhoun High School. He served his country in the Pacific during World War II as a Sergeant in the Air Force.

In August 1976, Carlos retired from Keebler company, where he had worked as a deliveryman for 30 years. Shortly after his retirement he went to work at Food City Supermarket at 2451 No. 90th Street in Omaha as a carry-out clerk in Omaha where he was loved by his fellow workers and a host of customers.

Carlos was active in church and civic activities throughout his life. He served the Fort Calhoun Presbyterian Church as an elder, trustee, and was a Sunday School Superintendent. He was a member of the church choir for 28 years and church custodian for 18 years. He had served on the Fort Calhoun City Council and as a past member of the Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Past Master of Solomon Lodge No. 10 A.F. & A.M.; Past Patron of Naomi Chapter No. 121 O.E.S.; and a member of Shrine Tangier Temple in Omaha. He also belonged to the American Legion Post No. 348 in Fort Calhoun.

Carlos is survived by his wife Laura; daughter, Loretta Briggs of Omaha; sisters: Mrs. Arthur (Agnes) Staben, Fort Calhoun; Mrs. Harold (Nadeen) Nord, Manhattan, Kansas; Mrs. leonard (Lucille) Eggleston of Omaha; and Mrs. Roland (Marjorie) Smith Jr., of Blair. Brothers: Arnold of Walnut, Iowa; and Harold of Columbus. Carlos’s parents and brother Donald preceded him in death. Also surviving are seven nieces and seven nephews plus a host of friends.
