Marjory Smith, 62

Marjory A. Smith, 62, of Blair, died January 30, 1988, at Methodist Hospital, Omaha.

She was born on December 21, 1925, at Fort Calhoun to Louis and Anna (Wolfe) Dey.

She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Florence.

Marjory graduated from Fort Calhoun High School and worked as a secretary in Omaha until her marriage.

She was united in marriage to Roland Smith Jr. on April 7, 1946 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. The couple began farming in the DeSoto area and moved to their present farm west of Blair in 1953.

Marjory was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Blair and was active in the Ladies’ Guild. She was a past Sunday School teacher.

Survivors include her husband, Roland, Jr.; sons Jeffrey of Blair and wife Cindy; Kenneth of Bloomfield and wife Dawn; daughter Shirley Moore of Fort Calhoun and husband Michael; five grandchildren; mother-in-law Eva Smith of Blair; brother Arnold Day of Walnut, Iowa; sisters, Agnes Staben of Blair, Nadine Nord of Manhattan, Kansas; and Lucille Eggleston of Omaha; nieces and nephews, and many relatives and friends.

Marjory was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 2, 1988, 11 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Daniel Ritter officiating. Interment will be at the Blair Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Campbell Funeral Home.

Serving as pallbearers will be William Briggs, John Eggleston, Jack Jensen, Norman Dey, Don Rasmussen and Neal Smith.

Memorials may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church of Blair or the American Heart Association.

The organist was Betty Denison, the vocalist was Susan Rogers, and there were Graveside Services at the Blair Cemetery.
