Ernest S. Dobbins

Ernest S. Dobbins, age 78 of Garrettsville, passed away Thursday, March 27, 2008, at Robinson Memorial Hospital. Born July 18, 1929, in Rosedale, West Virginia, a son of the late Oscar and Iva (Barton) Dobbins.

Ernest was a member of the Masonic Temple in Ravenna and Garrettsville. He was a self-employed excavator and enjoyed gardening and wood-working. Mr. Dobbins was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years Ines Dobbins; sons: Terry Dobbins of Garrettsville, Tim (Kim) Dobbins of Braceville; grandchildren: Sindi (Mike) Harrison, Timothy (Ashley) Dobbins Jr., Brian Dobbins, Tiffanie (Mark) Troyer, Terra (Mike) Hill; great-grandchildren; Hayden, Camerson, Harper; sisters: Ermal Smith and Rachel Summers.

Private graveside services will be officiated by Reverend Lorren Roberts at Grandview Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood-Kortright-Borkoski Funeral Home.

Ravenna Man New Deputy

Ernest Dobbins, 26, of 626 E. Walnut st. Ravenna, is the latest addition to the deputy sheriff staff working for Sheriff Ross Dustman.

Dobbins' appointment as a regular deputy was confirmed by Common Pleas Judge Albert Caris today.

The new officer formerly had worked as a member of the protection force at the Arsenal and was discharged from the Army in May, 1953. He has been employed recently at the Polson Rubber Co., Garrettsville.

Married, he and Mrs. Dobbins have two sons, Terry, 2, and Timothy, two months of age.
