She married John David Swearengin on August 8, 1919. John was born to Albert David Swearengin and Wade Hampton (Bishop) Sanders Swearengin.

She celebrated her 100th birthday with a party given by her family at North Jackson County Nursing Home in Bridgeport, Alabama. The party was attended by almost all of her entire family.
She attributed her long life to clean living. She never smoked nor drank, worked hard, kept a sense of humor and was a faithful Christian. Her motto in life was to "love everybody". Everybody loved her.

WOODVILLE - Rose Henshaw Swearengin, 100, died Thursday at North Jackson Nursing Home. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Bostick Hill United Methodist Church with the Revs. AL Helton and Tim Gifford officiating.
Burial will be in Henshaw Cemetery with Scottsboro Funeral Home in charge.
Mrs Swearengin was preceded in death by her husband, John Swearengin; and one daughter, Rose Sybil Swearengin.
Survivors include three daughters, Jewel Clark, Ruth Baker and Peggy Gifford, all of Woodville; three sons, James Buis Swearengin of Woodville, John A. Swearengin of Tavares, Fla., and Clyde Swearengin of Huntland, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
