Galena, Kan., Feb. 18. — James D. Thomason, 61 years old, a life-long resident of Galena, dropped dead at 3:15 o'clock this afternoon while assisting in redecorating a house at 500 Joplin street which Dr. Frank James recently purchased. Dr. James was called and said that death was due to a heart attack.

Buck Vanderpool, a carpenter who was working in the house, said that Thomason had appeared well and suffered the attack unexpectedly.

Thomason had been employed most of the time as a miner but also had served as a merchant policeman and also, as a juvenile officer at one time in Galena. He recently had been employed by the Poole Construction Company and had worked near Camp Crowder.

Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Fannie Thomason of the home, 615 East Seventh street; two sons, Joe Thomason of Fort Worth, Tex., and Jimmie Thomason of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Mesa of Fort Los Angeles and Mrs. Opal Woods of Dayton, O.; four half-sisters, Mrs. Fern James, Mrs. Mollie Isley, Mrs. Gertrude Neeley and Mrs. Virgie Hamilton, and his step-mother, Mrs. Orrie Thomason, all of Galena.

The Boice funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Thomason, 61 years old, who died unexpectedly yesterday afternoon of a heart attack, pending the arrival of a son, Joe Thomason, from Fort Worth, Tex., and information from other relatives away from here. Arrangements are in charge of the Boice Undertaking Company.

LIFELONG RESIDENT
OF GALENA DIES AT 71.


GALENA, Kan., Aug. 20 - Mrs. Frances (Fannie) Thomason, 71 years old, a lifelong resident of Galena, died at 2:15 o'clock this afternoon in her home, 614 East Seventh street. Her death followed a stroke she suffered Wednesday, although she had been in ill health six years.

Mrs. Thomason was born in Galena June 17, 1883 and had lived here all of her life.

She was a member of the Women's Relief Corps, an auxiliary of the G. A. R., and the Methodist church.

Surviving are two sons, Joe Thomason of Dallas, Tex., and Jimmie Thomason of the home; two daughters. Mrs. Opal Wooden of Dayton, Ohio, and Mrs. Noah Martin of Galena; a sister, Mrs. Donna Lumbley of Los Angeles; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The body was received by the Poteet funeral home.

GALENA, Kan., Aug. 21 - Funeral services for Mrs. Frances (Fannie) Thomason, 71 years old, will be conducted at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in the First Methodist church. The Rev. J. H. Thornberry will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery under direction of the Poteet funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Oscar Count, Oscar Smith, Henry Davies, Tom Black, Claude Elliott and Roy Jackson.

Mrs. Thomason died Friday afternoon at her home, 614 East Seventh street, following a short illness.
