Phebe was the daughter of Stephen Soule (1727 - 1789) and Sarah Potter (1724 - 1819) of Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

Note: Stephen Soule is a known descendant of George Soule, a passenger on the Mayflower and signer of the the Mayflower Compact.

Phebe's dates of birth and death are only estimates and her burial location is not known but she is probably buried in Kennebec County.

Phebe and Gideon were married on 29 January 1772 in Dartmouth, Bristol County, Massachusetts.

They then appeared on the 1790 and 1800 censuses with children but there is relatively little documentation to prove all of their names. They appear to have had a son whose name is not known and six more children who are listed below:

1. Sarah Church (1776 - 1854) She. married Warren Stone (1776 - 1857).
2. Randall Church (1782 - 1879) He m. Elizabeth Chase and later married Didama Cyphers.
3. Abigail Church (abt 1784 - bef 1850)
4. Phebe Church (abt 1786 - aft 1850) She m. Levi Ellis (25 Mar 1774 - 8 Mar 1853).
5. Francis "Fanny" Church (abt 1788 - abt 1845) She m. Shubael Wixon (abt 1788 - 19 Sep 1826).
6. Elizabeth Church (1792 - 1857) She m. William Ross Dill (1793 - 1825).

In the diary of Martha Moore Ballard, there is an entry on 19 March 1804 stating that "Phebe Church came at 9 hour." This could be for this Phebe or her daughter who is also named Phebe but it is probably this Phebe as Martha Ballard was in her late 60s in 1804 and Phebe was in her late 50s.

See pages 75-77 of George Soule and his Descendants in the Fifth and Sixth Generations for more information.
