He was born on the Mormon Trail, when they were crossing over Nebraska..He married Sarah McEwen on Oct. 27th 1886, together they had 7 children,Sarah, known as Nell, Vesta, Mary Marinda(May), Daniel James, Abram Dewey,(Abe), Ambrose who died at age 3 of tb, then Cedric McEwen. Then in 1907 he lost his wife to what they called in those days consumption..Then in 1911, he married Mary Harriet Gunn Hinshaw..
He was a successful farmer with 480 acres of wheat and alfalfa, was a respected member of the Masonic Lodge. His children attended the Methodist Church. He died in 1949 and is buried in the Goldendale Cemetery, next to his beloved Sadie, and his three children, Daniel Jr, Vesta, and Ambrose, and his daughter Nell is buried one row down, and his 3 other children are also buried in the same cemetery not too far from each other.
In one of his pictures I found, he looked alot like Mark Twain.
