Funeral Notice

DIED: In Gilroy, April 30th, 1872. Rebekah Hanna, wife of William Hanna, aged forty six years, one month and eleven days. Funeral services will be held at the M. E. Church on Thursday, May 2d, at ten o'clock A.M. You are respectively invited to attend.

Funeral

The funeral of the late Mrs. Hanna was the largest we have yet seen in this city. The hearse which was provided by Mr. Trickey, was followed by a very large number of private carriages containing the friends of the family. The coffin was first brought to the M. E. Church when a sermon was most impressively delivered by the Rev. Mr. Dryden and the church services effectively rendered. On the removal of the coffin from the church the members of the family of the deceased were overwhelmed with grief, and indeed the feeling of sorrow was very general.

In Memoriam

We regret to have to record, in this week's obituary, the death of Rebecca Hanna, wife of our respected citizen, William Hanna, of Eigleberry street. The demise of this most estimable lady, although not altogether unexpected, as she had for a long period, and especially during the past two months, suffered from indisposition, has nevertheless cast a gloom over the numerous circle of friends, and left a loving family in the deepest of grief. Mrs. Hanna was the daughter of a gentleman who was formerly Senator of the State of Ohio, and took an active part in the public affairs of that state.
The family subsequently removed to Illinois, where her father died at an advanced age. From thence Mr. and Mrs. Hanna arrived in this city in the year 1861. The kind and generous sentiments of this lady soon spread their benign influence throughout society, which only a long period of time can efface. She has left three sons and three daughters to deplore the loss of an affectionate and kind parent.
