FORT WAYNE--Eugene Edward Cummins, died at his home in Fort Wayne surrounded by his loving family early Sunday morning, April 23,2017.

Born to Omer and Thelma (Markin) Cummins in Sulphur Springs, Ind. on Sept. 1,1928.

Eugene was a Navy veteran of WWII in the Pacific theater. His primary occupation was in the meat processing industry and finished his working career managing Deluxe Taxi in Fort Wayne, IN. He was an avid Fort Wayne Komet and White Sox fan, and enjoyed spending time playing golf, fishing and spending time playing with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Eugene is survived by his wife, Carol Ann; brothers Galen, Perry, Homer; sisters Rovene Rhinearson, Judy Syferd; sons Phillip (Patty), Gary (Christy), Richard (Kathy); step-son Jeffrey Durnell (special friend Pat); step-daughters Jennifer (Paul) Alexander and Patricia Johnston (special friend Kenny); 13 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Vera; brothers George and Charles Lee; and sister Nona Benevidas and 2 great-grandchildren. A celebration of Eugene's Life will be 5 p.m. Thursday, Apr. 27,2017 at D.O. McComb and Sons Pine Valley Park Funeral Home with a gathering for friends beginning at 1 p.m. and extending until the service.
