Galen Cummins, 91, went to his Heavenly home early Sunday morning, February 27, 2022, at the Westminster Village Health Care Center following a brief illness. He was born on March 13, 1930 in Springport, Indiana the son of Elmer and Thelma (Markin) Cummins.

Galen graduated from Jefferson High School in Upland in 1948 and proudly served in the U.S. Airforce as a Staff Sargent with the 727th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron. Galen later married the love of his life, Vivian (Weeks) Cummins on October 31, 1951 and she preceded him in death in 2011. Mr. Cummins had worked for Delco Battery in production and later as an inspector. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union where he worked as the head of the CAP Committee for the family members of the union members. He also was a member of the Memorial Drive Wesleyan Church where he ushered, taught in youth groups and was the head Trustee. Galen enjoyed building houses, hunting, gardening and bird watching. Spending time with his family was very precious to him as well.

Survivors include, Two sons, Eddie Cummins (Donna), Muncie and Teddy Cummins (Mary), Westfield; one daughter, Vickie Sue Harlow, (Jim) Pittsboro, Indiana; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; two sisters, Rovine Reinerson, Windsor and Judy Seifert, Portland, Oregon; one brother, Homer Cummins, Royerton; several nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife of 71 years, Vivian, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and 1 sister.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2022, at 1:00 P.M. at Parson Mortuary with Pastor Rick Cummins officiating. Private burial will follow at the Gardens of Memory Cemetery north of Muncie.
