Mr. William Lyman Benson, age 81, passed away on March 4, 2017. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 11 AM in the Williams Funeral Home Chapel in Milledgeville with Rev. Bill Kitchen officiating. Interment will be at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

The Family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home on Wednesday from 10 AM until the service hour.

Mr. Benson was a native of Gwinnett County and had made his home in Milledgeville. He had retired from Engelhard Corporation and enjoyed farming, working in his shop, traveling and spending time with his friends. Mr. Benson loved his family and enjoyed his grandchildren. He was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church and a Veteran of the United States Army.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Mac Benson, Myron Benson, and Carmen Benson; sisters, Christa Benson, Burma Benson, Pauline Benson, Dolores Tribble and Annelle Ivey; and his parents, Byrd Clifton Benson, and Letha Bagwell Benson.

Mr. Benson is survived by his wife, one son, two daughters, grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Flowers are accepted and for those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
