Michael M. Placzek, 78, of 1922 7th St. ,died Thursday at St. Mary Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Fr. Flavius Czuba officiating and burial will be in the Catholic cemetery. The body now lies in state at McKown Funeral Home where a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. Friday by the Holy Name Society.
Parish rosary and scripture service follow at 8 o'clock.

He was born Aug. 24, 1893 at Tarnov, the son of John and Agnes Liss Placzek, and attended St. Michael School there. Mr. Placzek was married to Mary Laska July 28, 1915, at St. Michael Church at Tarnov. After residing at Tarnov and St. Paul farming until 1929, the Placzeks moved to Columbus. He was employed by the Union Pacific Railroad, and later worked as a custodian at St. Anthony Church and school. He was a member of St. Anthony Chruch and Holy Name Society.

Surviving are six sons, Denis J. ,Zigmond and Eugene of Grand Island, Francis A. of Fremont, Michael A. of Columbus and John V. of Atlantic, Iowa; four daughters, Mrs. Howard Kirchner, Mrs. Frank J. Paczosa and Mrs. Harold Villard, South St. Paul, Minn. and Janet Carmichael of Columbus; 55 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Other survivors are one brother, Florian Placzek of Columbus, and one sister, Sister M. Solona, O.S. F. of Denver, Colo.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. John Jasper in December, 1969; a son David, in infancy' parents; two brothers, Peter and Anthony, and two sisters,
Mrs. John (Rose) Torczon and Mrs. Frank (Sophie)Borys.
