Tarnov, Sept. 28 (Special to The Telegram)- John Placzek, 87, resident of Platte county for half a century died suddenly of heart trouble at his home in Tarnov at 12:30 p.m. yesterday. He had attended services at St. Michael's church at 9 o'clock yesterday morning, where a mission is being held, and on returning to his home about 10:30 told members of his household that he felt tired and wished to rest. He was stricken with a heart attack and died about two hours later, while apparently resting.
Mr. Placzek was born in Gniesno, Poland, where his marriage to Miss Agnes Liss took place in 1877. Fifty years ago Mr. And Mrs. Placzek migrated to the United States, coming directly to Platte County, where they homesteaded on a tract of land four miles west of Tarnov. He became one of the most prosperous farmers of this community, acquiring considerable land, which he later deeded to his children. In 1920, Mr. and Mrs. Placzek retired from farm work and moved to Tarnov, where they have lived since.
He is survived by his wife, four sons and a daughter, Florian Placzek, who resides on the home place, Tony Placzek, also of Tarnov; Pete and Mike Placzek, both of Silver Creek, and Ven. Sr. M. Solona, of the Franciscan sisterhood, who is in New Mexico. Mrs. Rose Torczon, who passed away 11 years ago, was also a daughter. There are 17 grandchildren.
