DUANE SCHROEDER

OMAHA, Neb. - Duane Schroeder, 54, of Arcadia, died Friday, May 28, 1993, at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb.

Mass of the Christian burial for Mr. Schroeder was celebrated this afternoon, Tuesday, June 1, 1993, at St. John Church in Arcadia with Monsignor James K. Lafferty officiating.

Casket bearers were Ott Boeckman, Art Zerwas, Joe Hansen, Elmer Schreck, Art Bruch Jr., and Dean Berg. Lector for the Mass was Jeff Lussman. Gift bearers were Lon and Vicki Schroeder. Eucharistic minister was Wilbur Hinners. Burial was at St. John Cemetery in Arcadia.

Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll handled the arrangements.

He was born Sept. 25, 1938, at Carroll, a son of Louis and Johanna (Pille) Schroeder. He spent most of his lifetime in the Arcadia community, where he attended St. John School and Arcadia High School. He graduated from Kuemper High School in 1956.

On Sept. 3, 1960, he and Lois Lappe were married at St. Ann Church in Vail with the Rev. Denis Clark officiating. They made their home in Arcadia and later lived in Storm Lake from 1963-67. They returned in 1967 when Mr. Schroeder became manager of the Arcadia Telephone Cooperative, a position he had held to date.

Mr. Schroeder was a member of St. John Parish at Arcadia, the Iowa Telephone Association and the Arcadia Community Club.

Survivors include his wife, Lois, of Arcadia; a son, Keith Schroeder and his wife. Sandy, of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter, Teresa Nelson and her husband, Kim, of Des Moines; two grandchildren, Christopher Nelson and Megan Schroeder: his mother, Mrs. Louis Schroeder, of Carroll; three brothers, Orville Schroeder and his wife, Lucille, of Carroll, Ivan Schroeder and his wife, Alma, of Elma, Iowa, and Vincent Schroeder and his wife, Carolyn, of Arcadia; four sisters, Dorothy Mueggenberg and her husband, Clem, of Arcadia, Mercedes Renze and her husband, Harold, of Omaha, Neb., Ethel Hesson and her husband, Pete, of St. Angelo, Texas, and Shirley Wolterman and her husband, Robert, of Westside; a brother-in-law, Wilbert Lussman, of Carroll: and his father and mother-in-law, Clarence and Grace Lappe, of Vail.

Mr. Schroeder was preceded in death by his father, Louis Schroeder, and two sisters, Ruth Lussman and Marcella (in infancy).
