The end came to Thomas Rousey Saturday evening, March 6, at 5 o'clock, at the home of his brother Glenn in Effingham. All during the day the inevitable was awaited, for there was not the slightest hope for his recovery. Death was due to pleura-pneumonia, following influenza. Two weeks ago Mr. Rousey became ill at the Union Hotel in Atchison, but did not call a physician until his nephew, C. B Searles, went to see him on Sunday. On Monday he accompanied Mrs. Glenn Rousey to Effingham, Later pleura-pneumonia developed and he realized his condition and gave instructions as to the disposal of his property and personal effects. Thomas Hiram Rousey was born in Doniphan county August 31, 1862. With his parents he moved to Monrovia in 1885. Mis father, William Rousey, died in 1899 and from then until the death of his mother in 1910, he was her support and companion. At the time of his illness he was employed by Snowden-Mize wholesale drug company in Atchison as shipping clerk. He was strictly honest, friendly and well known in the county. He is survived by one brother, Glenn Rousey, of Effingham, and a sister, Mrs. Fred Smith, of St. Joe. A brother, Perrin, died in 1913, and a sister, Mrs. Grable, in 1917. He was a member of the Knights and Ladies of Security, now the Security Benefit association, and carried insurance for his brother Glenn. He was a member of the White Temple Christian church of Atchison. Funeral was at 1:30 P. M. Monday from the Effingham Christian church. Interment at Monrovia cemetery.
